HOW TO BUY MARBLE FROM TURKEY

HOW TO BUY MARBLE FROM TURKEY

A Practical Guide to Sourcing Turkish Natural Stone — Directly, Transparently and With Confidence

Buying marble from Turkey can look simple.

Find a supplier.
Choose a stone.
Ask for a price.
Place the order.

In reality, international natural stone purchasing is rarely that simple.

The real challenge is finding the right material, from the right source, in the right quality and quantity — and making sure the material you approve is the material that actually gets shipped.

This is where the sourcing partner you choose matters.

At YaSeMarble, we take a different approach.

We are not trying to be another online marble catalogue.

We work as a Turkish Natural Stone Sourcing & Export Partner, helping international buyers identify, verify and source suitable Turkish marble and natural stone for their projects.

And importantly, our communication is founder-led.

1. Talk to the Founder, Not a Call Center

For an international buyer, one of the biggest frustrations is often not finding a supplier.

It is getting a clear answer.

You send a project requirement.

Then:

A sales representative responds.

Then another person handles production.

Someone else handles logistics.

Another person handles the shipment.

By the time a problem appears, you may be talking to four different people.

We believe natural stone sourcing should be more personal.

At YaSeMarble, you can communicate directly with the founder.

Yasemin Naim brings six years of experience from the importer's side of the natural stone business.

That perspective matters.

Because understanding natural stone sourcing is not only about knowing Turkish quarries or factories.

It is also about understanding what the buyer needs:

  • What information does the buyer actually need before purchasing?

  • What can go wrong between approval and shipment?

  • How should quality be checked?

  • How should different suppliers be compared?

  • What does the buyer need to know before committing money?

Our goal is simple:

Talk to the Founder, Not a Call Center.

For project-based purchases, you should know who is actually responsible for understanding your requirement.

2. We Don't Claim to Own Every Quarry or Factory

Let's be transparent about something that is often unclear in the natural stone industry.

YaSeMarble does not claim to own every quarry, factory or material we source.

And we believe that is a strength, not a weakness.

Turkey has hundreds of natural stone producers, quarries and processing facilities.

No single company needs to own all of them to find the right material.

What matters is having access to reliable sources and knowing how to evaluate them.

Our role is to connect the right project with the right available source.

That means we can look across different suppliers instead of forcing every project into one factory's inventory.

We don't sell the idea that one source has everything.

We focus on finding the right source for your requirement.

3. Start With Your Project — Not Just a Marble Name

A common purchasing request is:

“Please send me your best Turkish marble price.”

The problem?

There is no single “best” marble.

There is only the best material for a particular project, application, budget and design requirement.

A professional sourcing request should include:

  • Reference image

  • Stone name, if known

  • Color and pattern

  • Slab, tile, block or cut-to-size

  • Dimensions

  • Thickness

  • Finish

  • Required quantity

  • Application

  • Project location

  • Delivery deadline

  • Preferred Incoterm

If you have a reference image, send it.

In natural stone sourcing, a photograph can sometimes communicate more than a commercial stone name.

4. Verified Before You Buy

This is at the center of our sourcing philosophy.

Verified Before You Buy.

A catalogue photograph is not enough.

Natural stone is a natural product.

The material available today may differ from a photograph taken months ago.

The color may change.

The veining may change.

The movement may change.

The available quantity may be different.

For that reason, we believe buyers should see and understand the actual material being considered for their project before committing to a significant purchase.

Depending on the project, verification may include:

  • Current material photographs

  • Current videos

  • Slab images

  • Bundle images

  • Available quantity

  • Lot information

  • Dimensions

  • Thickness

  • Finish

  • Selection

  • Production information

The objective is simple:

Don't approve a photograph. Approve the material you are actually buying.

Verified Before You Buy.

5. Current Material Matters More Than a Beautiful Catalogue

Imagine that you need 5,000 m² of marble for a villa development.

A supplier sends you a beautiful photograph.

The price looks attractive.

You approve it.

Then production begins.

But the supplier discovers that only part of the required quantity is available from the same material.

The remaining quantity comes from another block.

The color is slightly different.

The veining changes.

Now you have a consistency problem.

This is why large projects should not be based only on catalogue photographs.

The important question is:

“What material is actually available for my project today?”

This is one of the areas where a sourcing partner can add value.

6. Access to Different Turkish Natural Stone Sources

Turkey has major natural stone production areas across regions including:

  • Afyon

  • Denizli

  • Burdur

  • Muğla

  • Bursa

  • Antalya

  • Other Turkish quarrying regions

Depending on your project, the right material may come from a different producer or region.

YaSeMarble's sourcing model allows buyers to consider different available sources rather than being restricted to one manufacturer's catalogue.

Our collections include different types of Turkish natural stone, with examples such as:

Tundra Grey

Diana Royal

Muğla White

Palladio Quartzite

among other marble and natural stone options.

The objective is not to sell you a particular stone.

The objective is to find the stone that fits your project.

7. Compare the Complete Cost — Not Just the m² Price

A $20/m² quotation is not necessarily cheaper than a $22/m² quotation.

Why?

Because the specifications may be different.

For example:

Supplier A

Supplier B

Material

Standard

Premium

Thickness

18 mm

20 mm

Selection

Commercial

Selected

Packing

Standard

Export

Cutting

Not included

Inspection

Inland transport

Extra

FOB

CIF

The cheapest number on the quotation is not necessarily the cheapest purchase.

Compare the complete commercial package.

8. Choose the Right Product Format

Turkish natural stone can be supplied in several formats.

Blocks

For buyers with their own processing facilities.

Slabs

Commonly used for:

  • Countertops

  • Bathrooms

  • Feature walls

  • Furniture

  • Luxury interiors

Tiles

Suitable for:

  • Floors

  • Walls

  • Bathrooms

  • Residential developments

  • Hospitality projects

Cut-to-Size

Particularly valuable for large architectural projects.

This can include:

  • Flooring

  • Wall cladding

  • Stairs

  • Vanity units

  • Pool areas

  • Facades

  • Special architectural elements

If you need cut-to-size production, accurate drawings and quantity schedules become essential.

9. Define “Quality” Before Production

“Premium marble” is not a technical specification.

You need to define what premium means for your project.

Depending on the stone, this can include:

  • Background color

  • Veining

  • Movement

  • Fissures

  • Resin

  • Thickness tolerance

  • Surface finish

  • Edge quality

  • Shade variation

  • Acceptable natural characteristics

Natural stone is not manufactured plastic.

Variation is part of its nature.

The objective is therefore not to promise a completely uniform material.

The objective is to define acceptable variation before production begins.

10. Choose the Right Incoterm

Your quotation should clearly specify whether the price is:

FOB

CIF

DDP

or another agreed delivery basis.

These prices should not be compared as if they represent the same level of service.

For example, FOB may leave the main international freight to the buyer, while CIF includes agreed freight and insurance to the named destination port.

DDP can provide a more comprehensive delivery solution, but the exact responsibilities, duties, taxes and import arrangements must be confirmed in writing.

Always compare like with like.

11. Inspect Before the Container Leaves Turkey

A serious project should not depend entirely on trust.

Before shipment, the buyer should have the opportunity to verify, as appropriate:

  • Material

  • Quantity

  • Dimensions

  • Thickness

  • Finish

  • Selection

  • Packaging

  • Bundle numbers

  • Labels

  • Loading

For larger or higher-value projects, independent inspection can also be considered.

The principle is straightforward:

It is easier and cheaper to solve a problem before shipment than after the container arrives.

12. Understand the Export Process

Buying the stone is only one part of the transaction.

The material must also be:

Produced → Packed → Checked → Loaded → Documented → Shipped → Delivered

For a detailed explanation of how the process works, buyers can review our [Export Process] page.

For information about our approach to quality control and packaging, see the relevant [Quality Control & Packaging] section.

And if you are still exploring materials, our [Collections] page provides an overview of available natural stone options.

For buyers sourcing for a particular application, our [Natural Stone by Sector] section can also help narrow the search.

13. Who Is YaSeMarble For?

Our sourcing model is particularly relevant to:

  • Villa developers

  • Hotel developers

  • Architects

  • Interior designers

  • Contractors

  • Property developers

  • Stone distributors

  • Importers

  • Procurement companies

  • Hospitality projects

  • Large residential developments

If you need a few samples, a single slab or several thousand square meters, the sourcing process should still begin with understanding exactly what you need.

14. Why Buyers Choose a Founder-Led Sourcing Model

You are not simply buying stone.

You are managing:

Quality risk

Supplier risk

Production risk

Consistency risk

Logistics risk

Communication risk

Cost risk

A sourcing partner should therefore do more than forward a factory quotation.

The value is in:

Finding → Comparing → Verifying → Coordinating → Following Up

And when the communication is founder-led, the person who understands your requirement remains close to the process.

That is the model we are building at YaSeMarble.

One point of contact.

Multiple Turkish sources.

Current material.

Transparent communication.

15. The 10 Questions You Should Ask Before Buying Turkish Marble

Before placing your order, ask:

1. Where exactly does the material come from?

2. Can I see the actual material currently available?

3. How much compatible material is currently available?

4. What selection grade am I buying?

5. What exactly is included in the quoted price?

6. What are the dimensions and tolerances?

7. What is the production lead time?

8. Can the material be inspected before shipment?

9. Which export documents are included?

10. What happens if the delivered material does not match the approved specification?

If a supplier cannot clearly answer these questions, you should pause before placing a large order.

Buying Turkish Marble Should Not Be a Guess

Turkey offers extraordinary natural stone diversity.

But finding a beautiful marble is the easy part.

The difficult part is finding:

the right material,

from the right source,

in the right quality,

in the right quantity,

at the right commercial terms,

and delivered according to what you approved.

That is why professional natural stone sourcing is not simply about catalogues and quotations.

It is about:

Verification. Comparison. Control.

And that is why our core principle is:

VERIFIED BEFORE YOU BUY.
